The place where you smell the history strolling through its streets.

Putj, situated in Eastern Slovenia ,is one of the oldest towns whose history dates back to the Stone Age. Many civilizations settled down the region because of its unique location. And they left fascinating works of art behind them.

Slovenski Square, where the Town Tower stands is a good start for sightseeing tour. Besides you can find tourism information office open during 24 hours.

If you are interested in the Romanesque,Baroque,Renaissance periods, the Minorite Church, the Church of St.George must be visited to see architecture and art. Furthermore, the Mithra shires will exemplify for not only Roman history but also the period before a pre-Christian cult.

The town is also famous for carnivals , one of which is Kurentovanje, and is unique in Slovenia.

Before Easter, there is a tradition to wear masks differently both in Slovenia and Italy ,and approximately 50 days before Easter, carnivals come about in these countries.

I was certainly lucky enough to attend the Kurent or Korent Carnival, which is an ancient Slavic pagan rite of spring and fertility .I love ancient rites , so I was in heaven during the eleven-day-event, which takes place in spring in honour of an ancient god of Hedonism, from which the name Kurent is believed to come .

Final preparations for the carnival started days before the spectaculars arrived at the place. That was because people listened to music and danced during the period. Multi-coloured and original masks worn by Kurent groups considering that was their most important annual event. The streets were filled with happy and noisy groups that they walked through the town by ringing their bells to scare the evil sprits .I got surprised when I saw them in sheep skin dress with ribbons and cow bells although I read about it before going to Putj and it was an unforgettable visual show .More over on Carnival Sunday, the groups from surrounding countries paraded. The most extraordinary thing, though, was parties where I I could enjoyed the traditional Ptuj chicken with wonderful local wines.

I will never forget my visit to the Kurent or Korent Carnival. It was the most exciting experience of my life.

Turanus gives you chance to join this marvellous,extra-ordinary carnival by a reasonable price:

- shuttle from Ljubljana airport to Ptuj from 12 euros ( a seat in a van of 8)

-business shuttle (private transfer) for 1-4 people from 70 euro

Incredibly Magnificent Carnival

The life is theater, so let’s go on the stage! Venice 2012–an INCREDIBLY MAGNIFICENT  CARNIVAL

A fabulous revelry , a huge public banquet, and a visual abundance made up of multi–coloured masks, and extra-ordinary costumes ,as well as the live music which takes place every corner of the streets.
All these remind me of the Venice Carnival. People from different religion come to Venice to take part in such amazing festival at which there are numerous activities that the visitors can indulge in. If you want, you can either don a mask or paint your face as the others do and walk down the streets listening to the live music and dance. Or if you wish , you may join the group in gambling dance. In addition, theatrical events are held in Venice for the carnival .Therefore watching a play at the theatre is strongly advised and one more thing ,the frittella –type of doughnut, which is only made over the Carnival period. As you can guess, mask is a central feature of the carnival and the contest for the best mask ,which comes about at the last weekend of the carnival, is one of the most intriguing events.

The carnival is essentially a religious event and means a farewell to meat .Before the Lent , people have rich food consists of meat, dairy products, eggs ,fruit that they can not eat at Lenten period .

The next one will be held between the 2nd and 12th February in 2013. Since it is dictated to religious calendar.

TURANUS gives you the opportunity to discover the mystery of Venice by: – shuttle to airports (Venice Marco Polo, Venice Treviso) and to lagoon from 22 euros (a seat in a van of 8) -flexible/business shuttle for 1-4 people from 140 euro.

The Dance of Lipizzaner Horses in Slovenian Meadow

Lipizza (Italian) or Lipica (Slovenian) is a village in Slovenia’s Karst region, and it is the origin of the Lipizzaner horses

Horse love is something different, especially for children and  riding a horse is a memorable experience.

The Lipica stud farm  offers a big opportunity  to see a special horse breed  and ride.Furthermore, the athmosphere is so impressive that you can’t  leave  the place  as I couldn’t few years ago.Even though I hadn’t  had any interests in horses before, the farm fascinated me with its magnificient foals as well as  the natural beauties .No doubt this special destination will intrigue  all the visitors.

The history of the stud farm in Lipica goes back to 1580s.In those years  the Spanısh horse was the ideal breed. And  those wonderful horses  were being  kept on the farm of Spain ,whose climate and soil  is similar to that of Slovenia. The stud  farm  therefore  was established  in that area  by Charles II,Archduke of Inner Austria. The first horses were brought from Spain. Since then  the finest ones  for haute-ecole riding have been bred .Besides, the place gives you a very warm welcome  through the scent  pervaded from  linden trees,  which have  been  planted  for  every   newborn  foal . Untill 1960  it  was not  opened to tourists .But today  Lipica is a real tourıstıc destination comprising a hotel and  a  leisure complex  in good  agreement with its  hıstorıcal settıngs.

Turanus  takes you to these places by following services:

-shuttles from Ljubljana to Lipica and back from 12 euro/person (a seat in a van of 8)

-private transfers for individuals or group of 2-4 people from  65 euros.

The wonder of the nature -Tolmin Gorge

Tolmin Gorges, where two rivers  Zadlascica and Tolminka  reach and flow into ,are  the most visited destinations  in Tolmin, an old town  in the Upper Soca Valley in Slovenia. And  it is also an Iron Age site in Europe.

The visitors find the gorges remarkably  impressive  and  it is clear that the confluence of  two rivers into a gorge is quite a  rare phenomenon.I strongly advice this attraction to those who love nature.

Obviously, people who come to this place  are lucky enough to  go on a perfect excursion with their  families. No doubt that the hiking to take about 3 hours will be a refreshing break from their routine and busy lives. The advised  trail  for the trip starts from Tolmin, along the Tolminka River ,which will lead you to the Austrian World War I Cemetery ,and past the Tolminka snack bar to the entrance of Triglav National Park. Along the way ,you will be fascinated by the green and turquoise water of the river.Another magnificent surprıse will welcome you when you reach the gorge, the Head of Bear .It is the name of the natural bridge ,large stone in a bear shape that the river carved the canyon and by the time this overgrown head came about.Sure It is the most attractive sight,at  least  this is the one that I was affected much. I also want to mention about  Devil’s bridge, which is  located above the Tolmin Gorge and  offers you a wonderful view and take you over the dangerous and narrow hollows. You can go on your trip over a footbridge across the Zadlascica River and finally through the village of Zabce and back to Tolmin. By the way, Dante’s Cave is another place to visit provıdıng that you  go in with a guide.

Turanus gives you the opportunity to discover these places fort he best rate in Slovenia.

-shuttle  from Ljubljana to Tolmin Gorge and back for groups up to 8 people for only  80 euro (10 euro each)
